Reverse . Skip . Uno

Met up with Charline and Elizabeth today for a great catching up session. We met up at Mint Café. Really pleased with the good ambience, service and food! (Great recommendation Janice! Arigatou!)

It seems inevitable that any conversation involving women would touch on the topic of relationships. Our discussion led me to some weird thoughts.

Is it true, that recently we see more examples of men and women having a reversal of, not just roles, but personality traits too? Besides the male home keeper, the wife breadwinner, are men adopting more typical feminine traits and well, women more of the men’s? Snag, metrosexuals, wish-washy men, female dominants, feminists, women independence... hell, soon probably a female US president!

We’re really overdoing the “Put yourself in other’s shoes” mantra. Women didn’t understand men and vice versa. Its ironic, to think that, both parties, start to put each other in another’s shoes at the same time only to end up doing a merry-go-round and ultimately no where better than where they started off.

Sometimes I find myself too preoccupied of finding the best option, making the best choice, I forget that its important to also attempt to develop current situations to better status.

Just thinking out loud, I often wonder, if my partner is the one for me. The legendary “THE ONE” that I read about so often in books and see on TV. (But come to think of it, by media standards and regulations, if he is THE ONE, I probably would have died due to too many irregular heart beats or suffocation long ago.)

In any case, I always feel that I have many options and if I see a better one, I can always skip the current squeeze and move on. Try dating and if he misses the mark, skip, go one, next and the process goes on.

It takes courage to risk giving one’s heart and soul just to have a relationship not work out. I applaud the brave ones who play the dating game. I know I can’t take the pressure. Playing the game to end up Uno… come to think of it, you are actually the winner.

I’m in my thoughtful mode tonight, or rather, this morning. Would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Char and Liz for feeding my imagination and inspiring me with the topic. I do realise after every session with you two, either or both, my work-dulled brain starts to show some sign of life.

Thanks to Liz for letting me know that my writing has been appreciated. Certainly this is a source of motivation for me to uPapa my keyboard more often and update my blog.

Really glad we met up. Will catch up again soon!
