It Feels Like Star Trek

Today is my appointment for CT Head scan. It’s the first time I’m doing such a ‘high-tech” X-ray and I don’t know what to expect. I only heard from Rain-god that I’ll be put into a “donut” machine.

The X-ray department @ Changi Hospital is pretty easy to find. Once you got out of the lift, you just need to follow the Radio-active shaped stickers on the floor. Why do I get the feeling I’m about to be zapped into a mutant?

After registering myself, I settled down with a book to read. I was reluctant to bring a book at first but I finally allowed myself to be convinced by my mom that hospital waiting times are horrible….

I was called to the X-ray room even before I reach page 2. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The moment I entered the X-ray room, I thought I was transported into a scene of one of the many drama shows I watch. This particular one “Stargate SG-1”

The radiographer said to me, “Now I need to inject blood dye so that the laser can capture it in your brain.”

CHOTTOMATTE!

Now… no one told me about any injection? I had the impression it’s a perfectly painless X-ray!

I hated the needle that’s inserted on the hand. Its not painful when it pierces your skin.. But the feeling when it glides down your veins. And after its secured, it makes my wrist numb. Not to mention, it hurts more when its removed.. and will still hurt hours later.
Arghgh~ The throes of a human pin-cushion. Now I know.

I was made to put my hair into a paper cap and was strapped to the machine.
The nurse came along with the insertion needle.

Nurse: “Now, I just need to have this needle put in so we can insert the dye.”
Ade: *gulp* “okay..”
Nurse: (Tied a band around Ade’s wrist and slapped the back of Ade’s hand)
Ade: (ow! NOoooOoo~)
Nurse: You got very nice veins
Ade: (yes, the easier to jab me with right?)

After she tubed me to the dye dispenser, the radiographer came back.

Radiographer:
Ok, when the dye goes in, you’ll feel alittle warm. There will be laser around your head. You can open your eyes as long as you don’t move your head.

I’m a very obedient girl.
And so I kept my eyes open.

The table I’m lying on got alleviated.
I’m being fed into the donut bit by bit. Inch by inch.

Every inch it moved in, white lights will start revolving around my head.

The feeling is so…

Star Trek

When the lights stop, I got moved in another inch.
I suddenly remembered the nurse saying something about feeling warm when the dye enters.

Deserting the Star-Trekky lights, I concentrated on my wrist.. waited …and waited.. .. waited somemore. As I was starting to think I might have been conned again… I suddenly felt warm around my neck… but not the hand. 为什么?

The scan was very very fast. In less then 15 minutes, I’m done and ready to escape Changi. After that its from one prison to another.
