Welcome to Foodenia - Episode 1
Hidden away, in a corner in every house is a beautiful land by the name of Foodenia (Foo-dee-nee-ya).
Foodenia has always been there and lots of interesting stories happen to the Foodenians everyday. But more often then not, to outsiders, Foodenia might jolly well be hidden behind closed doors. Nobody knows what happens in Foodenia or where is it… … until now
Foodenia has winter and draughts all year round.

Foodenia has winter and draughts all year round.
The nights are cold and still, and day time filled with draughts and the occasional climate meltdown.
The cold weather, instead of making its inhabitants grumpy and isolated, prevents ‘partial drying of Foodenians to maintain their freshness and flavour” (well at least that’s what the ad says.. or mostly says. Ads can be deceiving)
In Foodenia lived The Three Mochi-gers:
One chilly day (what do you expect.. fine day? Foodenia has WINTER all year round), the Food Ministry (the gahmen) decided to organize a cultural week. A series of plays are being organized. A particular one caught the attention of the Mochis.
These tickets are given to the matriarch of Foodenia — Magnum
for safeguarding and distribution to her discretion.
Black Sesame and Lychee are both interested in this play. (Black Sesame mainly due to the influence of Dae Jang Geum and Lychee has always been fond of plays) They managed to get Green Tea interested too and they decided to approach Magnum for the tickets. On the way to Magnum’s home, the Mochis met Kimchi, their neighbour.)
Kimchi: Oh! You’re all going to the play? Sounds interesting. Can I come along?
Lychee: of coz! We’re going to Magnum’s house, you wanna come along?
Kimchi: Ok! When?
Lychee: Black and I aren’t free at the moment. You wanna go with Green to get tickets first?
And so, the Kimchi and Green Tea happily skipped down Foodenia’s smooth white paths towards the direction of Magnum’s house. With some luck, Magnum is at home! Kimchi and Green Tea got the tickets from Magnum and went home excitedly to prepare for the night out.
After Black Sesame and Lychee are partially done with their chores, they went to find Magnum too. For some unknown reason, Magnum is reluctant to give these two Mochis the tickets. While in discussion, Magnum’s right-hand-dessert, Cornetto happened to drop by.

Cornetto: How come you never give them the tickets?
Magnum: I need to think about it. Whether they need it or not.
Cornetto: Well, you already let Kimchi and all the rest go so why not them?
Magnum: Hmm.. well you see, Kimchi would understand the play… but I’m not so sure these two Mochis would.
Cornetto: Oh.. so Kimchi IS special.
At this moment, the creamy minds of Lychee and Black Sesame have already shut off to Magnum and Cornetto’s discussion. So they agreed to put their application on ‘pending status’ and returned to their chores.
On the way home, Green Tea joined the other Mochis.
Green Tea: So did you get the tickets?
Black Sesame: Nope.
<Black Sesame and Lychee filled Green Tea in on the happenings>
For all the milk and cream in their brains’ worth, Green Tea, Lychee and Black Sesame couldn’t figure out why they weren’t allowed to watch the play.
“We didn’t meet the basic requirements?”
“But we weren’t given the chance to in the first place!”
“Kimchi also! But how come so special?”
“Dunno, maybe it’s the recent Korean craze. Haha. Magnum like Korean-stuffs? Ever watch Jewel in the Palace?”
“Oh yes, 10pm right? I watched yesterday. What’s going to happen ah?”
“Huh, spoiler leh. You really wanna know?”
“Oh yes! Tell us! I don’t mind spoilers”
“Haha, you’re becoming my walking 8-days synopsis already!”
"blah blah, blee blah bleh"
And so, as you see, Foodenians are happy-go-lucky folks. (Or maybe they have short concentration span.. always digress from the main pt)
After talking about Dae Jang Geum at length. The Mochis happily went to sleep.

1 Comments:
Foodenia is superb! With such a short notice, the writer is able to submit her fantasy in such a good humor and wackiness.
I definitely look forward to the adventure of Black Sesame, Lychee and Green Tea.
As the story continues......
