Angels & Demons

Watched Angels & Demons today. Been looking forward to this movie since I started reading the book years ago and when they decided to make Davinci Code into a movie. I can’t say this film adaptation blew me away. I was impressed but not extremely.

First of all, the magnificence of the illuminati and the involvement of Galileo, Bernini and Raphael are watered down and briefly carried over. The conspiracy and revengeful plot seems to have lost its edge. The focus fell to saving the cardinals, and not focusing on the darker, more sinister illuminati plot.

Nevertheless, the movie brought the audience on a whirlwind tour of Roman and Vatican City. Revisiting these places onscreen made me nostalgic. I also applaud the director for taking into consideration all the small scene details which made the story line realistic.

I do wonder, however, how many scenes have been cut.

Overall, I’ll still give this film 3.5.
