Mr Bay's Birthday

Decided last minute that we shall go Marina Bay to fly kite and for a picnic. I met him at TM at about 1pm and we went off to NTUC to get some food or what-not for the picnic. Nicky expressed the desire to try out this Rotiboy stall that just opened beside NTUC. My comments on Rotiboy? haha. I really couldnt see whats the fasination for this coffee+butter bun thing. Personally, i find it a tad too oily and hard on my tastebuds. Definitely will not try it again.

It ended up we didnt get any food from NTUC, we got ourselves a drink instead. Decided to get a footlong sub instead at Subway for our dinner. We were passing through CS when we met Per!!! She's selling some Korean facial mask thing and asking us to buy from her. The masks are not that expensive also 4 for $10. So decided to get 4 and spilt, 2 for my mama and 2 for his for Mothers' Day.

After we reached Marina Bay, we went to get a kite. There were only two shops selling kites. One is a specialty shop and the other is a mahmah shop haha. Being too lazy to walk back to the specialty shop after we passed it, we decided to get a kite from the mahmah shop instead. This decision is unfortunate. First our kite backbone broke, next our kite body frame broke. The kites must have been there for generations for the bamboo frames to become so fragile. Well, the kite flying plan is officially off.

For a moment I thought Mr Bay looked VERY disappointed. Well, since he brought his camera, i asked him to take some photos. Its his birthday... don't want him to be too sad. We were taking photos (of plants and scenery) and we explored further into the park. We came to this clearing where its very undeveloped and ulu. The only paths available are either through the tall grasses or on the path carved out by cars. We walked to the very end and selected a spot beside the river directly facing Fullerton. Really nice spot.

We ate our dinner, lighted tealights I bought. After i sang Happy Birthday to Nicky, treated him to the baby food i bought. Baby's banana dessert and pear juice. Haha... Unique dinner right?

When the sky started to become dark, I was quite eager to turn back but Nicky wanted to stay longer and soak in the atmosphere. Ok... i was afraid.. ya.. i have this fear of the dark and the unknown. The rising tide made me feel as though some huge Anaconda or Loch Ness is gonna suddenly pop out and bite me. The tall grasses and insect sounds at the back made me jittery and half anticipate a snake to jump out suddenly. When i really cannot take it anymore, i dragged Nicky back. He wanted to go up the expressway and walk back to Marina Square and Esplanade. I'm very fine with the idea if not that the path to the stairs are populated with taller grasses and weird holes in the ground..

The walk over felt like some scary Night walk and Fear Factor all rolled into one. He had a torch but i'm reluctant to use it as it might attract unwanted reptiles or insects.. *sob sob* By the time we were on the expressway, I had cried a whole lake of tears and was my heart was still thumping madly away. And yes, Mr Nicky was taking pictures of fullerton and the Esplanade area while i was standing there feeling weak in the knees.

Well, the day was quite eventful and successful except for the crying part. =) I also got to try Choya. Not very nice though. But i liked the bottle. We didnt stay out late. I reached home at 10:18pm.

Its not the itinery of the day that makes it memorable, its how u spend it with the people around u. No more night walks for me... my heart cant take it. haha
