A Little Bit of Sunshine

Aww Man, What a day..

As usual, I must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I was supposed to leave home at 1130 so that I could meet chris at 12 and then go down to have lunch with nicky before going to Marine Parade Library. Yeah, that was the plan. The plan kinda worked out too but I didn’t plan on the other sub plots.

I woke late and went online to play Maplestory before I went out. (figured I could get dressed in 10 minutes flat. perfect self-delusion.) Don’t get me wrong, I take my time-management really seriously. Its just that I tend to over-estimate my superwoman ability when I’m tempted by games. lolz. Anyway, I finally left home at 12pm. hoho!

I only managed to reach chris’ house at 1230pm I think. I suppose the long walk to find LFY under the budi tree (tree opposite a temple) is the result of me getting a slight tan. I feel like a black oven. Why did I have to wear ¾ sleeves black top? My wardrobe shall answer that question.

The plot rolled out smoothly all the way till after my lunch. oh best:

SUBPLOT 1: All the Tree’s fault

I wanted to buy some sweets so that I could take a nibble if I start craving for some mouth exercise while reading. We walked to the supermarket. On the way, we walked under this huge tree. This tree gave me a surprise which I were to find out when we’re in the supermarket. I was happily browsing their selection of chocolates when… I saw a green worm on my right hand sleeve.. yes.. very good colour contrast. Not that I would have minded the colour combination but IT’S A WORM. Its kinda like a prada green, not their best collection anyway. BUT IT’S A WORM! Yes, I can never stress that enough. Of all the insects in the insect kingdom, I think worms are the slimmest. I’m no fan of insects. My motto for them? “Cross my path and hope to die.”

Nicky kindly flicked it off me. I asked him where did it go but then he said he didn’t notice. Hmm… okay… After getting the chocolates, he walked me to the busstop. I needed to take a bus to Bedok interchange before I get on 197 to marine parade. Once I got on the bus, I was putting my ezlink card back to my right pocket when I spotted Mr Worm on my pants just beside the pocket.. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe… I didn’t scream on the bus of coz, I have an image to protect. haha. Summoning all my nerves (not much left), I used my ezlink card to flick it off. I suppose Mr Worm has mastered the art of rappelling, it landed on the bottom of my left pant leg.. WTH! Fine.. I flicked it off again and thankfully, it landed on the floor. I spent the rest of the journey sending Mr Worm deadly stares and hoping someone will just step on it. (yes I’m evil but I hate worms)

SUBPLOT 2: Kids nowadays…

Marine Parade Library’s air-conditioning is a welcome after the blazing afternoon heat. After picking out 4 books, I went to the Young Adults section at level two to start my reading spree. My blissful read was broken or rather shattered near early evening about 5+ pm by none other then two groups of kids.

There was a group of three guys and a girl sitting near me. At first, one guy was talking to the girl. I think they are in lower secondary. His dear friend came along with and promptly dropped his bag onto his manhood.. ya.. the scream that came out from him.. OWwWww.. God Bless You my boy. When those 4 kids finally gathered, they were giggling and laughing and finally started spraying each other with water bottles. They were quite near me and while taking a break from my book, I had planned what to say to them if god-forbid, any of their saliva mixed water would land on me. I’ll bury them in the earth’s core if it happens. Count their lucky stars, I was nice and dry.

Before menace group one left, menace group 2 came. This time its three guys and two girls in upper secondary. In this group, there was two couples and a loser. one couple spent their time chasing each other around the section. After the chasing, they promptly planted themselves in front of me and started hugging and touching each other. Talk about gross. I so wanted to grab the lollipop the girl was eating and stuff it down her throat and tell her off for making herself cheap. I can’t imagine how one can snog with a lollipop in her mouth at the same time. Boy must her mouth be big.

The other couple spent their time listening to music at the music stand. Of coz not those classical arty music provided by the library, they listened to Chinese pop with their mp3 phones. I could just make out each and every word from Jolin’s 72 transformations.

I shut them off by focusing on the book I’m reading till Nicky came. I wanted to finish the chapter before leaving and so he went to get a book too. He shot daggers from his eyes at them for the noise they were making. (well, not daggers exactly, but those plastic knives you get for your McDonalds Hotcakes. Its not exactly fierce.. I think its his eyebrows. It gives it a very comical effect)

SUBPLOT3: Insects again…

The rest of the night went fairly well. We went to Parkway Parade to take a look at jigsaws and I bought a miniature D.I.Y. doll house thing to do for Yuying’s Bdae. On the way to Parkway Parade, this dumbo bug flew and crashed on my cheek. No flying license man… I tried to duck in time but failed. I think I looked comical in public, swatting something invisible.

On the way home, this cockroach ran near us. Drats, I think I have an affinity with insects. I’m positively sure I’m cursed with them.

EPILOGUE:

Overall, had a great time in the library. My mom says my jeans look nice too! ^-^ I already finished two of the books I borrowed. 2 down, 2 more to go! I need to go to the library again soon!
